The Oxford police along with the Metro Narcotics Division arrested Able Ruiz Jr., 30 of Porterville, California, and Joanna Orona, 36 of Dinubay, California, after an early morning traffic stop on Hwy 6. During the stop our K-9 (canine) “Jack” alerted to the presence of narcotics. After a search warrant the police obtained approximately 28 pounds of marijuana and 0.3 grams of cocaine located in multiple compartments within the vehicle. Both individuals are facing trafficking and possession charges, and each have been given a $50,000 bond.

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: three alarms, three noise complaints, three suspicious activities, three animal assists, two motorist assists, a disturbance, an improper parking, a simple assault, a public intoxication and a rental property scam: an unknown person placed a fake listing on Craigslist for a ballgame weekend rental.
Oxford police investigated five wrecks, issued 28 traffic citations and made 10 arrests on the following charges: (2) careless driving with DUI, a speeding with DUI, a running of a stop sign with a suspended drivers license, a DUI and without car insurance, a careless driver with no car insurance and a DUI, a driver without headlights but with possession of drug paraphernalia and a DUI, a warrant served, a driver with a suspended drivers license and a DUI and no car insurance, and a public intoxication.
Oxford police discovered no code enforcement violations.
University police reports are inaccessible at this moment.
Oxford Fire Dept. responded to the following calls: a smoke detector malfunction in men’s room at Indoor Practice Facility, a smoke detector malfunction at Northgate B206, a detector #104 malfunction at Jackson Ave. Center, and an air handling unit #2 heat duct detector malfunction at Bryant Hall.
