On Thursday, October 23, the Oxford police dept. arrested Chris Hester, 21 years old from Shannon, MS, for rape. On Saturday, October 18, a victim reported that she was raped in the city limits of Oxford, MS. The victim signed charges on Mr. Hester. Chris Hester turned himself in and was given a bond of $15,000.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 10 suspicious activities, seven disturbances, five noise complaints, four welfare concerns, three fire dept. assists, three simple assaults, three improper parking, two malicious mischief, two ambulance assists, two lost properties, a motorist assist, a careless driver, a public intoxication, a recovered property, a counterfeit currency, a grand larceny, a civil matter, and a house burglary at 9– S. 18th Ext.
Oxford police investigated 16 wrecks, issued 72 traffic citations, and made 22 arrests on the following charges: (4) public intoxication, (3) DUI, (2) warrants served, (2) driving with suspended drivers’ licenses, (2) shoplifting, a possession of Schedule I narcotic, driving with no seatbelt or tag while running a stop sign with a DUI, running a red light with a DUI, running a red light with a suspended drivers’ license, a public intoxication with resisting arrest, a failure to yield to right way while running a red light with a DUI, a possession of fake ID while speeding with a DUI, a possession of drug paraphernalia, and a minor in possession of alcohol.
Oxford police discovered one code enforcement violation per Oxford neighborhood code policy.
University police responded to the following incidents: a service call for an ambulance at Residential College South, a vehicle stop at Hill Drive, a vehicle stop at Chucky Mullins Drive, a traffic detail at Chucky Mullins Drive, a vandalism at Northgate Drive, an emergency medical response to an intoxicated person at Conner Hall, an intoxicated person at Ridge North Building, a drug paraphernalia possession at Kincannon, a vehicle stop at Grove Loop, a vehicle stop at Sorority Circle, a bomb threat at the Union, a vandalism at Anderson Hall, a simple assault with bodily injuries at Campus Walk, a public drunk at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, a suspicious vehicle at Super Computer Center, and a disorderly conduct at Campus Walk.
Oxford Fire Dept. responded to the following calls: a medical assist due to no available ambulance at Oxford High School, an activated smoke detector by the dust from cutting concrete at First National Bank, a pulled fire alarm at Faulkner Flats Building 16, a man stuck in the elevator at Turnberry Condos Building K, a report of smelling gas but the monitors did not register any leaks at 1581 Buchanan, an air handling unit duct detector malfunction at Bryant Hall, and a dust detector malfunction at Solo Apts.
