Love Patrol is on the Beat at Snackbar Tonight

Luke Fisher will be fronting a band of some of the best players in town, Love Patrol, at Snackbar tonight at 9:30. They’ll play a mostly acoustic mix of of rock ‘n’ roll, blue grass, country funk, and whatever else they find amusing, Fisher says. Spoiler alert: Expect a honky tonk version of the Bee Gees’ “Staying Alive.”
Drummer Ricky Burkhead is from the Soul Tones and Fisher’s usual outfit, Love Cannon. Burkhead is also a percussion professor in the Ole Miss music department.
Fretboard guru Clint Jordan is one of the guitarists in Mustache the Band, a ’90s country cover powerhouse that packs venues in town and across the Mid-South. “He might pull out his resonator for part of the night,” says Fisher. Don’t be alarmed, especially considering the name of the ensemble is Love Patrol: a resonator is merely a type of guitar.
Upright bass player Greg Johnson grew up playing metal and is now with the Tupelo Symphony. “Needless to say, he’s got everything else in between well covered,” Fisher says.
A newcomer to town, Sydney-Kirk Patti is a fiddle player who’s been playing bluegrass and whatever around Mississippi for years.
The show is at Snackbar, on North Lamar next door to Big Bad Breakfast.
