The Oxford Police Dept. made two arrests the past two days.
Justin Denton – use of credit card with intent to defraud

On Monday, September 15th, detectives of the Oxford police dept. investigated a credit card fraud case. After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that Justin Denton was involved. A warrant was then issued for the arrest of Denton.
On Monday, September 29th, the Oxford police arrested and charged Justin Denton, 23 years of age from Tupelo, MS., with (97-19-21) credit cards or credit card numbers and use with the intent to defraud. He was given a bond of $1,500.

On Tuesday, September 30th, officers responded to a possible burglary in progress. The caller stated that a white male was looking in her roommate’s vehicle. Officers were able to locate the suspect described by the caller: Conner C. Hightower. They then placed him in custody. The Oxford Police Department charged Hightower, 19 years of age from Oxford MS., with auto burglary and he was given a bond of $5,000.
Oxford Police responded to the following incidents: six alarms, two suspicious activities, two 911 hang up calls, 2 petit larcenies, a domestic violence, a welfare concern, a malicious mischief, an improper parking, a lost property, a fire dept. assist and harassing phone calls.
Oxford Police investigated 11 wrecks, issued 18 traffic citations and made five arrests for the following charges: (2) minors in possession of alcohol, a minor in possession of alcohol and drug paraphernalia, a public intoxication, and a warrant served.
Oxford Police discovered no code enforcement violations.
University Police responded to the following incidents: a vehicle stop on Chucky Mullins Drive, a motor vehicle accident on Fraternity Row, a motor vehicle accident at Student Union Drive, a grand larceny of more than $500 at Kappa Alpha house, a vandalism at Kincannon Hall, and a report of larceny to University Police Department.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a smoke detector malfunction in the surgery hallway at Baptist Memorial Hospital, some burned food activated smoke detector at Canterbury Crest 122, and a smoke detector malfunction at Lamar Hall 117.
