When the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide come into Oxford on Saturday to take on the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels, the game will be a Top 15 SEC West showdown.
Ole Miss sealed its first 4-0 start since 1970 with a 24-3 victory over the Memphis Tigers. The Rebel defense played lights out against the Tigers only allowing them 104 total yards of offense and three first downs.
This past weekend, the university inducted Chucky Mullins into the M-Club Hall of Fame and renamed Coliseum Drive to Chucky Mullins Drive. The defense was lead by graduate linebacker Deterrian Shackelford with eight tackles, four of which were solo tackles.
With the win over Memphis it secured that ESPN’s College GameDay will be in the Grove next Saturday. This will be the first time the show will be in Oxford in its 28-year history. ESPN has not specified where the stage will be set, but the show begins broadcast at 9 a.m. CST.
Alabama will roll into town with a 4-0 record and coming off of a bye week after defeating Florida 42-21 two weeks ago.
The Crimson Tide are led by a talented offense with Blake Sims at quarterback as well as a top-notch defense.
The SEC showdown in Oxford on Oct. 4 will showcase two highly talented teams that both want to control the West.
