LC Master Gardeners Present Free Fall Gardening Lecture
Lafayette County Master Gardeners Association will host a fall gardening lecture in October that is free and open to the public.
The Fall Gardening Lecture will be held from 9:30 a.m. To noon on Oct. 8 at the Lafayette County-MSU Extension Office, located at 70 F.D. Buddy East Parkway.
The lecture will present two speakers on two different topics.
Matt Nielson, owner of Green Groves, LLC, will be the first speaker. His presentation is entitled “The Home Landscape Design Process,” and will focus on the design process, different approaches to installation and maintenance and working with native plants.
Nielson is the owner of Green Groves, LLC and is a consulting arborist for projects across the southeastern US and advises on planting plans and select projects.
The second speaker, Nate Venarske, will present “Managing the Home Landscape.”
His talk will address co-existing with deer and other garden wildlife, reducing maintenance, understanding when to use pesticides and will give some ideas for adding more plants to your landscape. Venarske is the owner of Mississippi Woodland Nursery, LLC. He is a naturalist and nurseryman who helps homeowners support wildlife and create a sense of place in their home landscapes.
The office will open at 9 a.m. and the first presentation will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Refreshments will be provided.
