Attendees of this weekend’s 25th annual Double Decker Arts Festival and the Mississippi State baseball series can use newly implemented shuttles in order to get to and from parking areas around Oxford and campus.
Anticipating large crowds at each of the events, Oxford and university officials have devised a plan to keep traffic minimal and to ensure every attendant can find parking.
On the Ole Miss campus, nothing will be different regarding parking. University Police Officer Samuel Patterson says, “Besides Athletics or Ford Center-controlled event lots, campus parking is free and open after 5 p.m. on weekdays and on (the entire) weekends. However, please do not park in ADA Accessible handicapped spaces or Reserved parking spaces.”
Shuttles available for the games Thursday through Saturday and for the festival on Friday and Saturday. For baseball, a complimentary shuttle will be offered from the Manning Center, Lot B, Lot E and AD. All of these lots have free parking.
Athletics Department representative Sarah Bonnet says these lots are recommended for baseball attendees because most of the lots near the baseball field are reserved for pass holders.
For Double Decker, a shuttle will run from Oxford High School and South Oxford Center (old Baptist hospital). A round-trip ticket costs $5.
Other important parking information for Double Decker:
- Parking around the Square is very limited but available. Metered spots on North Lamar and Monroe Avenue close off Friday at 4 a.m. Other metered spots and surrounding lots will be closed to the public beginning at 4 a.m.
- A parking map will be posted on all Double Decker festival social media platforms before the event.
