Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports from Oct. 18-20, 2019

The following reports were made Oct. 18-20, 2019, by city and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise indicated.

Oxford Police Department issued 60 tickets, investigated 33 wrecks and the following reports:
14 alarms
4 ambulance assists
1 animal complaint
8 careless drivers
3 civil matters
10 disturbing the peace complaints
5 domestic disturbances
1 elder assist
1 harassment
4 improper parking complaints
2 larcenies
2 lost property reports
1 malicious mischief
2 motorist assists
1 other agency assist
1 property damage
1 recovered property
3 simple assaults
26 suspicious activities
6 suspicious people
3 suspicious vehicles
7 vehicle searches
9 welfare checks

OPD made the following arrests:
2 DUIs
1 DUI and no headlights
5 DUIs and careless driving
1 DUI, careless driving and speeding
1 DUI and driving the wrong way
1 DUI and disregard for a traffic control device
1 DUI and possession, drug paraphernalia and speeding
1 DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, no tag and no insurance
1 DUI, child endangerment by DUI, one headlight and resisting arrest
1 defrauding the innkeeper
1 discharging a firearm in city limits and disorderly conduct
1 disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia
1 domestic violence with simple assault
2 possessions of drug paraphernalia, failure to comply and fake ID
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended driver’s license, no insurance, no tag and seat belt violation
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana in a vehicle and seat belt violation
1 possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, careless driving, running a red light and failure to yield
7 public drunks
1 public drunk and disturbing the peace
3 public drunks and fake ID
1 public drunk and failure to comply
1 warrant served and other agency assist

Lafayette Sheriff’s Department investigated two wrecks and the following reports:

2 juvenile complaints
2 noise complaints
4 reckless driving complaints

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 conspiracy to commit a crime (warrant)
2 contempt warrants
1 aggravated assault, domestic violence
1 public drunk
1 suspended driver’s license and no tag
1 out-of-county warrant

University Police Department investigated six wrecks and the following reports:
2 suspicious vehicles
1 possession of drug paraphernalia
2 fights
12 ambulances needed
1 vandalism
4 intoxicated people
2 disturbances
2 suspicious people

Officers made the following arrests:
3 public drunk
1 possession of drug paraphernalia

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
10/18 – 10:21 – Rooster’s – working on the sprinkler system activated the water flow alarm
10/18- 12:28 – Phi Kappa Tau room 4 – smoke detector malfunction
10/18 – 17:21 – The Links Building 3 parking lot – male passed out – checked vitals and monitored until EMS arrived
10/18 – 19:52 – Phi Delta Theta house – general fire alarm malfunction
10/18 – 22:13 – Kappa Alpha house – hall smoke detector malfunction
10/19 – 12:16 – 906 Old Taylor road – call canceled
10/19 – 14:49 – Marshall’s Parking lot – wreck with one injury – provided first aid and stood by for EMS
10/19 – 19:51 – Phi Kappa Psi house – smoke machine activated a smoke detector
10/19 – 21:51 – Brown Hall room 150 – smoke detector malfunction
10/20 – 11:46 – Oxford Health and Rehab – resident pulled a fire alarm
10/20 – 14:57 – Brown Hall Laundry Room – overloaded washing machine the belt starting smoking activating the smoke detector
10/20 – 16:02 – Thacker Loop and Hwy 6 – wreck – provided 1st aid and stood by for ambulance
10/20 – 16:37 – 2504 Capital St. – fire alarm malfunction
10/20 – 17:03 – Lexington Point – caller having chest pains – EMS arrived at the same time
10/20 – 17:20 – Canterbury Crest hallway – fire alarm pull station malfunction
10/20 – 20:49 – Hwy 310 and CR 521 – call canceled
