Ole Miss’ Breein Tyree Named to Preseason First Team All-SEC

Ole Miss basketball’s senior guard Breein Tyree was selected as a member of the Preseason First Team All-SEC by the media for the 2019-20 season. The preseason projections were announced Tuesday morning for All-SEC teams ahead of the annual media day in Birmingham on Wednesday.
As a junior, Tyree averaged 17.9 ppg that ranked third in the conference. Once the Rebels got into league play the Somerset, New Jersey native averaged 19.1 ppg. Last season, Tyree was the only player in the SEC to rank in the conference’s top 10 in scoring (3rd-17.9 ppg), free throw percentage (3rd-83.1), three-pointers made (7th-2.1 per game) and field goal percentage (10th-45.9).
Tyree also scored at least 20 points a night when he stepped on the court in 17 different contests. He scored a career-high 31 points against Georgia (Feb. 9) and at Vanderbilt (Jan. 5).
Tyree embarks on his final season with the red and blue and ranks 29th on the all-time scoring list with 1,187 points in program history. In his career, he has 143 three-pointers in 99 games and ranks 11th in Ole Miss history in shots drained from beyond the arc.
The national media picked Ole Miss to finish eighth in the conference this season.
