Oxford, Lafayette Science Teachers Named Best in Mississippi

Two local science teachers were recently recognized for being among the best in the state by the Mississippi Science Teachers Association.

Oxford Intermediate School science teacher Jackie Mulkey received the 2019 Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher Award and Lafayette County High School biology teacher Deborah Jones received the 2019 Outstanding High School Science Teacher Award.

Mulkey teaches fifth-grade science and has taught in the Oxford School District for 14 years.

Jones teaches biology and has worked in the Lafayette County School District for 15 years.

The two women will be recognized at the annual convention of the association later this month in Biloxi.

Mulkey will be a featured speaker at the 2020 MSTA Convention.

The Mississippi Science Teachers Association is a non-profit organization that seeks to connect teachers with valued information and opportunities.
