Two Ole Miss offensive football players got honored by the SEC office on Monday for their play in the 31-6 victory the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Quarterback John Rhys Plumlee was named SEC Freshman of the Week after recording 264 yards of total offense in his second career start.
The Hattiesburg native led the Rebels on the ground and set a freshman quarterback record with 165 yards and one touchdown on 22 touches. Plumlee leads the league with 274 yards rushing in SEC contests.
Sophomore Ben Brown earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after helping pave the way for Plumlee and an Ole Miss offense that piled up 413 yards rushing, the most by Ole Miss against an SEC opponent since 1979 (Vandy, 443) and the most against any team since 2010 (Fresno State, 425).
Brown helped clear lanes for three explosive runs of 50 yards or more. It marked the first time in school history that the Rebels have tallied two rushes of 75 yards or more in the same game.
The Rebels return to action on Saturday as they travel to Missouri to take on the Missouri Tigers at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
