Oxford Man Killed in Thursday Morning Wreck on Hwy. 7

A Lafayette County man was killed Thursday in a wreck that happened on Highway 7 near Abbeville.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the crash at about 9:56 a.m. According to information from MHP, a 2019 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Karen G. Allison of Oxford and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Creekmore B. Wright III of Oxford were traveling north on Highway 7 when a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Jeremy Andrew Lovelace, 32, of Oxford was traveling south and allegedly crossed the centerline and collided with the two other vehicles.
Lovelace was pronounced dead at the scene.
Allison and Wright and another passenger, Phyllis Wright, were transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
A funeral service for Lovelace is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service starting at 1 p.m. in West Hall. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery.
According to his obituary, Lovelace was known as a man who often put others before himself and strived to be a good role model for his nine nieces and nephews.
Described as intelligent, creative and talented, Lovelace worked as a flooring specialist.
“He was an honest and kind soul that had a smile and humor that was contagious to everyone he encountered,” stated his obit.
He’s survived by his father, John Anthony Lovelace Sr. of Oxford; his mother, Dee Ann Dooley of Arlington, Texas; four sisters, Chey Moore, April Rowland and Beth Williams of Oxford and Chandler Dooley of Arlington; two brothers, Bryan Lovelace of Oxford and his twin, John Lovelace Jr. of Oxford.
