Ole Miss men’s basketball coach Kermit Davis hosted a student event Oct. 2 to raise money for the American Cancer Society. At the end of the night, Davis wrote a check for $10,043 after students banked several free throws and half-court shots inside the Pavilion.
Davis agreed to pay $1 for every student who attended the event, $10 for every free throw made and $500 for every made half-court shot. A total of 876 students attended. The students who attempted shots made 116 free throws and 16 buckets from half-court.
“The goal of the night was to raise awareness for cancer, as well as money for the American Cancer Society,” Davis said.
Ole Miss basketball coaches and players were there cheering on the students and interacting with everyone who came to help in support of “Make Kermit Pay.”
“The Ole Miss student body is amazing,” Davis said. “They give so much support.”
