Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports from Sept. 20-22, 2019

The following reports were made Sept. 20-22, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 35 tickets, investigated 13 wrecks and the following reports:
3 911 hang-ups
16 alarms
7 ambulance assists
1 animal complaint
2 careless driving complaints
3 civil matters
14 disturbances
4 harassing phone calls
4 larcenies
3 lost properties
1 malicious mischief
1 public drunk
1 scam
3 simple assaults
12 suspicious activities
8 suspicious people
1 suspicious vehicle
1 utility call
5 vehicle searches
4 welfare checks

Officers made the following arrests:
2 DUIs
1 DUI and fake ID
1 DUI and careless driving
1 DUI and property damage
1 DUI and possession of a drug paraphernalia
1 DUI and driving the wrong way on a one-way road
1 disorderly conduct
3 for disturbance the peace
1 domestic violence with simple assault, careless driving, no insurance, no driver’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule 1 drug, possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of marijuana in a vehicle and trespassing
1 littering
1 minor in possession of alcohol
1 minor in possession of alcohol and fake ID
1 possession of drug paraphernalia
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and no tag
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule 2 drug, careless driving and warrant served
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule 2, 3 and 4 drugs and speeding
1 possession of a schedule 1 drug
1 possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana
11 public drunks
1 public drunk and possession of a schedule 2 drug
1 public drunk and fake ID
1 public drunk and failure to comply
1 simple assaut

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made one arrest for sale of a controlled substance and trafficking a controlled substance, investigated two wrecks and the following reports:

2 residential burglaries (CR 172)
5 disturbances
2 domestic violence complaints
1 harassment
4 informational reports
1 juvenile complaint
1 noise complaint
2 petty thefts
6 reckless driving complaints
2 road obstructions

2 suspicious people
2 suspicious vehicles
4 transports
4 welfare concerns
6 service process

University Police Department made one arrest for possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and running a stop sign, investigated three wrecks and the following reports:
2 disturbances
6 ambulance needed
1 fire
1 loud music
1 malicious mischief
1 vandalism to a vehicle
4 intoxicated people
1 assist other agency
2 for possession of alcohol beverage by person under 21
1 suspicious person
3 petty thefts
1 harassment

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
9/20 – 4:25 p.m. – Wilson Art – call cancelled
9/20 – 8:55 p.m. – The Chancellor Hotel and Spa – first-floor bar smoke detector – no alarm upon arrival – employee reset the alarm
9/21 – 2:08 p.m. – Behind Coulter Hall – someone threw a cigarette in the storm drain catching the debris on fire
9/21 – 8:18 p.m. – Student Union – Which Wich Sandwich Shop – Cleaning activated a smoke detector
9/22 – 1:07 and 2:06 a.m. – Fill up with Billups – call canceled
9/22 – 1:59 p.m. – Ole Miss Golf Course room 102 – smoke detector malfunction
9/22 – 3:24 p.m. – Manning Way / All American Drive – a transformer sparked from a power surge catching a flowerbed with shrubs on fire
9/22 – 5:21 p.m. – Student Union Panda Express – power surge caused the vent-a-hood to stop working causing smoke which activated a smoke detector
9/22 -8:21 p.m. – 241 St. Andrews Circle – trouble breathing – supplied oxygen and monitored until EMS arrived
