The Oxford Chargers scored early and often as they routed the Lafayette Commodores 46-7 on Friday night.

Oxford got things going in the first quarter when the quarterback, John Meagher took it in from 4-yards out. Oxford would elect to go for the two-point conversion and succeed giving them an 8-0 lead.

The Oxford offense would continue to be dominant all night as Meagher, JJ Pegues and Kelvin Wadley each scored at least one touchdown in the Chargers win Friday night.

Pegues would score on a 2-yard rushing touchdown while Wadley took it from 7-yards.

Oxford’s defense was also a force to be reckoned with on Friday as they were flying all over the field making plays and causing turnovers.

Defensively, their two senior linebackers Dude Person and Tristan Shorter led the Chargers.

Person was all over the field making countless tackles while Shorter sealed the game with a pick-six off of Lafayette quarterback Tyrus Carmichael-Williams.

With the win, the Chargers improve their record to 3-1 while the Commodores took their first loss of the season moving them to 3-1 as well.

Oxford will get a week off before they will be back at home to host Southaven High School. Lafayette will also get a week off before they try to bounce back when they host West Point High School.
