Oxford Police Department Announces Arkansas Game Day Plans

Published

on

Large crowds are expected in Oxford this weekend as Ole Miss takes on the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

People are encouraged to use the shuttles and buses around town to get to campus to watch the game.

The Double Decker buses will run starting at 3:30 p.m. at no cost from the Square to campus and back before the game, during the game and for two hours after the game ends.

Fans may park at FNC Park on Old Sardis Road, the South Oxford Center (old Baptist Hospital) and the Jackson Avenue Center for free shuttle parking and transportation to campus. All shuttles will begin at 7 a.m.. This service will end one hour after game time.

Visitors can purchase a single game reserved parking pass on the fly this year with the CLUTCH! app. The app is available on iOS and Android devices.

City taxi pick up and drop off will be at the intersection of Old Taylor Road and University Avenue. No other locations on the city streets are for pick-up and drop-off. If traffic is disrupted a ticket will be issued.

Ole Miss Clear Bag Policy

Backpacks and track bags are not allowed on shuttles or in the stadium. Ole Miss is still implementing the clear bag policy. The Oxford Police Department reminds everyone to put valuables in the trunk and lock your cars.

After the game: be cautious of police officers directing traffic in the road at the intersection of Jackson Ave and Highway 278. Hathorn Road will not be able to exit at Chucky Mullins; drivers must go to West Jackson Avenue. Old Taylor Road traffic must take Belk Boulevard to South Lamar Boulevard.

Watch for officers in roadways and pedestrians exiting the game. Fixed routes will continue until traffic is flowing freely.

“We also want everyone to make it home safely so please do not drive if you have been drinking,” said Interim Police Chief Jeff McCutchen.
