OPD Arrest 4 in Unrelated Crimes of Theft
From a burglary of a storage unit to a stolen motorcycle, the Oxford Police Department arrested four people last week on felony theft charges in three unrelated incidents.
On Aug. 23, officers with OPD received a call about a motorcycle on the side of the road of Anderson Road with no one around it. It was later discovered that the motorcycle had been stolen from a nearby apartment complex.
During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the suspects were William Johnson, 29, of Oxford and William Yourn, 37, of Abbeville. They were both arrested for grand larceny and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where they were each booked on $5,000 bonds.
Storage Burglary
On Aug. 24, officers with the Oxford Police Department took a burglary report from a storage unit on Anderson Road. Video footage from the storage units led to the identification of the suspect, Derrick Bowen, 38, of Oxford.
A warrant for commercial burglary was issued and served on Bowen on Aug. 29. He was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was given a bond of $10,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
Napa Shoplifter
On Aug. 30, officers took a report of a felony shoplifting at Napa Auto Parks. The item stolen was valued at $1,200. Officers identified the suspect from security video as Timothy Hayslett, 43, of Oxford).
A warrant for felony shoplifting was issued and agents with the Mississippi Department of Corrections were able to arrest Hayslett later that day. He was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was given a bond of $2,500 by a Justice Court Judge. A hold was placed Hayslett by the MDOC for a probation violation.
