Memphis Wallops Ole Miss in First Half of Play

Ole Miss and Memphis had a rough start to open the first game of the season. The first half ended with the Tigers taking a 13-0 lead going into the locker room.
The Rebel offense came out of the gates slow and was unable to move the ball down the field. Memphis’ defense forced Matt Corral and company to three possessions of 3-and-outs.
Ole Miss’ defense held the Tigers in check by only allowing them to find the end zone one time on their third drive. The Landshark defense had two personal fouls called, a face mask and a roughing the passer in the first 30 minutes of play.
Memphis scored on a scamper by quarterback Brady White at the 5:23 mark of the first quarter.
On the Rebels fourth offensive possession things started clicking as Corral found Elijah Moore for 19 yards. However, a 15-yard targeting call moved the Rebels to the Tigers’ 44-yard line.
The running game for the Rebels carried the ball for 12 attempts to produce a dismal negative one yard. In the air, Ole Miss gained 43 yards for a total of 42 yards in the half.
Memphis gained a total of 172 yards with 47 in the air and 125 on the ground.
