Friends of the late Glenn Cofield have the opportunity to gather in memory of him Friday night at a tailgate prior to the Ole Miss season opener against the Memphis Tigers.
To celebrate his life, the Memphis chapter of the Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) will have a pre-game tailgate party and fundraiser to honor Cofield from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Avon Acres in Memphis behind Central BBQ.
RUF is the official campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America whose mission is to reach students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and equip those students to serve him.
Cofield was murdered in downtown Memphis Friday, June 7. He and his wife attended a charity event for St. Jude and were walking back to their car when the attack occurred. Investigators with the Memphis Police Department say the case is still unsolved, according to the Commercial Appeal.
While living in Memphis, Cofield began a close friendship with John Crosby, the Campus Minister at the University of Memphis. According to the event page, Crosby had an important impact on Cofield’s children while they were in middle school and attending youth group at Independent Presbyterian Church.
“Glenn had supported RUF in the past and was close friends with the charity organizers,” his brother John Cofield told HottyToddy.com. “The Cofield family appreciates all of Glenn’s supporters on many sides who have reached out to us in so many ways.”
For those who are not able to attend the event and want to donate, please send a check to:
