The Ole Miss Rebel Soccer team season is off and rolling for the 2019 campaign.
Ole Miss (1-1) picked a 2-0 win on Thursday night against North Alabama; however, on Sunday the Rebels dropped a close match to Memphis in the annual Darby.
“We played well last Thursday night against North Alabama at home with a great crowd with lots of energy,” Ole Miss head coach Matt Mott said.
This season, the Rebels offensive production is coming from Channing Foster who is a two time all-SEC player along with freshman Mo O’Connor who is an Oxford native. O’Connor scored her first collegiate goal against the Lions on Thursday night.
“[O’Connor] is doing great for us along with scoring a number of goals in the exhibition match,” Mott said.
In high school, O’Connor scored a total of 141 goals as an Oxford Charger.
Ole Miss will have to be able to share the ball and be able to put together set pieces to be able to convert on corner kicks in games, according to Mott.
Ole Miss returns to the pitch this weekend as they play host to Southeast Missouri on Thursday and Minnesota on Sunday. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
