Although the Ole Miss Rebels softball staff is currently putting the 2020 schedule together, Head Coach Mike Smith announced his club is headed to the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge Feb. 13-16.
The team’s schedule has not yet been revealed for the matchups on the diamond in Mexico. Ole Miss will be joined for the second session by Cal Baptist, Colorado State, Tennessee, Texas and Utah. The field of six will include four NCAA Tournament teams, including three teams that advanced to Super Regionals.
The Puerto Vallarta College Challenge is the only NCAA Division I softball event played outside of the United States. All games will take place during the challenge at Nancy Almaraz Stadium.
In 2018, Ole Miss competed in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge south of the border and went 3-1 in Mexico. Smith’s club took down Texas, Rutgers and then-No. 3 Oregon to claim the championship.
