Former Ole Miss baseball pitcher and vocalist Brady Bramlett will take on a new challenge as he hits the dance floor for Dance Like the Stars that sponsors the Boys & Girls Club of North Mississippi. He takes on the spotlight at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Bramlett is partnered with Tammy Wilson of The Dance Studio in Oxford where she serves as senior instructor.
Bramlett, a Memphis native, currently serves as the associate director of Development/Annual Giving at Ole Miss and will be dancing to support the local Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi.
“The opportunities they provide for the kids in our communities are absolutely incredible,” Bramlett said.
The Boys and Girls Club provides the Oxford/Lafayette community, as well as other northern Mississippi communities, resources to promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and citizenship.
Last year, Ole Miss head baseball coach Mike Bianco took part in the event and was paired with the same partner as Bramlett. Bianco finished third in the event and raised $42,672.
“I have not really ever ballroom danced prior to doing this event, but it has been fun learning,” Bramlett said.
“We’ve been rehearsing once a week together, and now with two weeks left we’re meeting twice a week to perfect our routine.”
Bramlett and Wilson are performing a tango mixed with a Paso Doble to “…Ready For It?” by Taylor Swift.
“There’s a lot of intensity and a few other surprises in the dance,” Bramlett said.
So far, Bramlett has raised $10,000 dollars and has a goal of $30,000. To help Bramlett meet that goal, make a tax-deductible donation or purchase tickets at bgcnms.org.
