The Ole Miss football team finished a full we of fall practice on Friday in preparation for their opening game against Memphis on August 31.
The Rebels defense had Qaadir Shepard suffer a hand injury in practice and is expected to be out for the next 10 days, according to Kyle Campbell. Shepard John Haynes, who is listed as day-to-day, is also expected to be out after a lower body injury.
Defensive Coordinator Mike MacIntyre told the media after practice that he is pleased with how physical and how hard the defensive is preforming in camp.
“We have put everything in and just keep going over, over and over it,” MacIntyre said. “Hopefully we’ll keep getting more familiar with it and play well.”
The Rebels have done live tackling every single day in camp either on a tackling dump to the ground or tackling each other.
“We do all types of different drills through the beginning of practice,” he said.
Every position has a specific tackling drill, such as a line backer has a different angle than a inside noise tackle or how a safety and a corner will come to the ball, according to MacIntyre.
“(The coaches) are teaching the guys to understand that and they have bought into it,” MacIntyre said.
On Saturday, the Rebels will scrimmage on prior to Meet the Rebels inside the Manning Center from 2-4 p.m.
