Abbeville Man Charged With Stealing From Oxford Library

An Abbeville man was arrested recently for allegedly stealing money from the Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library.

On Aug. 1, the Oxford Police Department received a report that money was missing from a safe in the library.

After watching video surveillance footage, investigators identified the suspect as Joshua Flemons, 28, of Abbeville. A warrant was issued for his arrest and Flemons was picked up on Aug. 2 and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $5,000 bond.

Also on Aug. 1, OPD arrested an Oxford man on a DUI-Fourth charge.

According to reports, an officer pulled over Johnnie Ray Sims, 60, and suspected Sims was driving under the influence. The officer learned that Sims had at least three prior DUI convictions.

After a DUI investigation, Sims was arrested and taken to the Detention Center and charged with DUI-Fourth, one headlight, no driver’s license and no insurance. He was given a $10,000 bond by a Justice Court Judge.
