Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports from Aug. 2-4, 2019

The following reports were made Aug. 2-4, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 86 tickets, investigated 18 wrecks and the following reports:
1 911 hang-up
12 alarms
6 animal complaints
1 burglary
2 careless driving complaints
2 civil matter
6 disturbing the peace
2 harassments
3 larceny
1 lost property
1 malicious mischief
5 other agency assists
1 property damage
1 scam
1 simple assault
15 suspicious activities
2 suspicious person
3 suspicious vehicles
3 trespassing complaints
3 trespassing
2 vehicle searches
2 welfare checks

Officers made the following arrests:
1 DUI, careless driving and no insurance
1 DUI, careless driving and expired tag
1 DUI and no tag
1 no driver’s license, no insurance and speeding
1 possession of drug paraphernalia
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding
3 public drunks

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated one wreck and the following reports:
1 agency assist
2 alarms
3 animal complaints
4 civil matters
6 disturbances
2 domestic violence
3 follow up
1 harassment
3 information
4 juvenile complaints
3 malicious mischief
1 petit larceny
2 reckless driving
1 scam
8 service calls
1 suspicious activity
4 suspicious persons
1 transport
2 welfare concerns

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, no drivers’ license and possession of paraphernalia
1 disorderly conduct
1 domestic violence

University Police Department investigated the following reports:
2 suspicious vehicles
1 possession of alcohol (housing referral)
1 ambulance needed

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
8/2 – 11:33 a.m. – 115 Phillip Road – call was someone passed out – patient was awake and alert upon arrival – monitored until EMS arrived
8/2 – 12:02 p.m. – Oxford Intermediate School – alarm company testing alarm system
8/2 – 13:27 p.m. – Mustard Seed Antiques – a vehicle ran into the building – no injuries
8/3 – 09:31 a.m. – 279 CR 101 area – vehicle vs bicycle rider – provided first aid on cyclist until EMS arrived
8/3 – 5:43 p.m. – 134 Anchorage Road area – unauthorized burning of construction trash – backhoe covered large trash pile with dirt to extinguish the fire
8/3 – 10:03 p.m. – 45 Effie Circle – plugged phone charger into an outlet without a cover and it tripped the breaker to the complex at the outside breaker box
8/4 – 5:44 a.m. – ATO House – detector malfunction
8/4 – 11:53 p.m. – 10 Aspen Loop – caller said they smelled gas in the house-checked with the gas monitor and did not find gas smell or leak
