There always seems to be a distinctive smell to every nail salon upon entry, but a new nail salon in the LOU community has strived to eliminate that familiar experience.
Lacca (La-Ca) The Nail Club—located at 705 Sisk Avenue—recently opened in Oxford with hopes to provide a new, luxurious experience to each and every customer.
Mother-daughter duo Allie Carroll and Cyndi Winters first began their adventure as entrepreneurs in 2012 before venturing into the world of nails.
Their store challenges the norms of traditional salons by eliminating the pesky smell that typically wafts through the buildings and by offering various packages to its clientele.
Lacca provides memberships to customers with the first option at $79 a month, and the second option being $99 a month.
“The membership affords you a better price, priority booking appointments, and you’re just like family. We get to know you better and your preferences on what you like and what you don’t like,” Carroll said.
The difference in the memberships is the perks a customer is given monthly.
“In the $79 a month, you get two manicures, not gelled just regular polish, and a pedicure a month. If you do the $99 a month you get two gelled manicures, and our highest pedicure a month and if there are any other services you want to do they’re all 10% off,” Carroll said.
One of the other perks the co-owners highlighted is the Oxford location.
“We are in a very convenient location,” Winters said. “We’re right off of Sisk Avenue so we’re not in the congested part of town so it’s easy to get in and get out of.”
While some may be wondering why Lacca has taken the non-toxic route in their nail salon service, both owners believe that being innovative and as clean as possible is a vital part of their business.
“From the non-toxic aspect, we believe that Oxford being a college town and being innovative we believe that launching our first business here is the best solution because we plan to open up more,” Winters said.
A big reassurance from both owners is the fact that every single of their workers are licensed and their products are as clean as possible every day.
When the mother-daughter duo first began looking into opening their business the two screened other salons around the southern region of the United States. Carrol and Winters said they discovered that some of the employees at many of the salons were not licensed.
“That’s a big problem for us when it comes to working on someone’s body so we believe that it starts with the right employees and we make sure all of ours are licensed to work,” Carroll and Winters both said.
Lacca is launching their phone application by the end of this week for those interested in booking appointments. Other options for those interested in booking an appointment is through their website or by phone at 662-801-4968.
