Stolen Wrecker, Home Burglary Lead to Multiple Felony Arrests by OPD

The Oxford Police Department made several felony arrests this past week for crimes of theft, including a stolen wrecker from a local towing company.

On Saturday, police officers responded to Marquis Towing after someone stole a wrecker. Later that day, Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department located and stopped the wrecker. The driver and passenger bailed out of the vehicle and ran off. They were both apprehended later that afternoon.

Cameron Collins, 39, of Parrottsville, Tennessee.

Cameron Collins, 39, of Parrottsville, Tennessee was identified as the driver and person who stole the vehicle. He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was charged with felony motor vehicle theft and booked on a $5,000 bond; however, the Mississippi Department of Corrections placed a hold on Collins as he was out on parole from a previous felony conviction.

Home burglary

On Friday, officers responded to a residence on Shumard Cove for a reported burglary in progress.

The caller told dispatch they could see people walking through the house with flashlights.

When officers arrived they found Kimanah Davis, 27, of Oxford and Qadree Williams, 26, of Oxford inside of the house. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

They were transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and booked for burglary and given a bond of $2,500 each by a Justice Court Judge.

Wallet theft

Dan Burnett

On July 6, police officers took a report from someone who stated their wallet was taken from inside of their vehicle. The victim identified Dan Burnett, 37, of Oxford as the person running away from their vehicle with the wallet in his hand.

On July 29, Burnett was arrested for the auto burglary arrest warrant. He was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $5,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
