Oxford Crime & Fire Calls From July 15, 2019
The following reports were made July 15, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.
Oxford Police Department issued 10 tickets, investigated eight wrecks and the following reports:
1 911 hang-up
6 alarms
1 discharging fireworks in the city limits
2 disturbing the peace complaints
6 suspicious activities
1 suspicious person
1 trespassing
1 vehicle search
Officers made the following arrests:
1 disorderly conduct
1 DUI-second, suspended driver’s license and tint violation
1 no driver’s license
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended driver’s license, no insurance and no tag
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated three wrecks and the following reports:
1 agency assist
1 alarm
1 civil matter
2 disturbances
1 follow-up
2 harassments
1 information
1 petty theft
2 reckless driving complaints
3 road obstructions
8 service calls
1 suspicious activity
1 suspicious vehicle
1 traffic complaints
3 transports
2 welfare concerns
Deputies made the following arrests:
1 contempt warrant
1 writ to take custody
University Police Department investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle and responded to one medical call.
Oxford Fire Department firefighters responded to the following calls:
10:08 a.m. – Conner Hall – seizure patient – monitored until EMS arrived
10:37 & 11:58 a.m. – Natural Products – water in a smoke detector caused a malfunction
12:53 p.m. – 600 Archive Circle – smoking activated a smoke detector
1:05 p.m. – Band Hall – storage room smoke detector malfunction
8:08 p.m. Turnberry Condo Bldg. K – grilling on the third-floor balcony activated a smoke detector
