The start of a new college football season is right around the corner, and Ole Miss Athletics is gearing for its annual Ladies Football Forum Saturday, July 20 to kickstart the season.
The purpose of the forum is to introduce women to the ins-and-outs of college football in a fun way.

“The First Ladies Forum got started in the year 2000,” said Megan McCurdy, assistant to the head football coach. “I have come in and done the last seven forums.”
Ole Miss was one of the earlier schools to start this type of forum, according to McCurdy. The forum is now in its 19th year.
“Every year we are reaching more and more people,” she said.
The day will start with check-in at the Manning Center as anywhere between 250 and 300 attendees get ready to start their days with the Ole Miss football team. After check-in, ladies will spend the day inside the facilities with players and staff learning about what the team goes through on gameday.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt, name tag, photo with head coach Matt Luke, lunch, cookbook and a special gift.
Participants will also hear from the new Rebels’ offensive and defensive coordinators and what they can expect from this season.
“We then break up into groups of 45 that will get to tour the facilities along with different demonstrations, along with hearing from the training staff, weight room staff and recruiting,” McCurdy said.
Meeting with the players is one of the many things Ole Miss fans rarely get to do besides during the Walk of Champions, McCurdy said.
Registration for this year’s event is closed but people can go ahead and follow the Ladies Football Forum on Facebook and Twitter to gear up for the 2020 event.
