Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports fro July 12-14, 2019

The following reports were made July 12-14, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 41 tickets, investigated 15 wrecks and the following reports:
2 911 hang-up
14 alarm
6 ambulance assist
5 animal complaints
5 careless drivings
2 civil matters
1 discharging fireworks in the city limits
8 disturbing the peace
3 domestic violence complaints
5 improper parking complaints
3 larcenies
1 littering
1 malicious mischief
1 scam
1 simple assault
9 suspicious activites
4 suspicious people
1 suspicious vehicle
3 vechile searches
6 welfare checks

Officers made the following arrests:
1 DUI
1 DUI and no tail lights
1 DUI and no tag
1 DUI and disturbing the peace
1 failure to yield, resisting arrest and careless driving
1 no driver’s license
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding
1 possession of schedule 1 drug, driving while licnese suspended driver’s license and seat belt violation
1 simple assault
1 shoplifting

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made one arrest for possession and trafficking of a controlled substance and investigated the following reports:
6 agency assists
3 alarms
1 animal complaint
5 auto burglaries
1 commercial burglary
3 civil matters
1 death
2 disturbances
6 follow-ups
1 harassment
3 informational reports
3 juvenile complaints
1 malicious mischief
3 noise complaints
1 sexual assault
3 suspicious activities
2 suspicious peoples
3 suspicious vehicles
1 traffic complaint
5 transports
1 unauthorized use of a vehicle
1 vandalism
5 welfare concerns
10 civil process

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 DUI, switched tag, suspended driver’s license, no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia
1 contempt of court warrant

University Police Department made no arrests, conducted four traffic stops and investigated the following reports:
1 suspicious vehicle
1 intoxicated person
1 possession of beer by a person under 21

Oxford Fire Department firefighters responded to the following calls:
7/12 – 6:30 a.m. – South Oxford Center – second-floor parking garage smoke detector malfunction (again and again)
7/12 – 12:41 p.m. – 727 area of CR 101 – wreck with entrapment call – victim was out of the vehicle upon arrival
7/12 – 11:33 p.m. – First Presbyterian Church – zone 1 smoke detector activation – there was no activation upon arrival
7/13 – 7:39 p.m. – Highway 30 East / Cobblestone – a wreck with entrapment – extricated a driver
7/14 – 8:06 a.m.- 93 Pam Street – female with difficulty breathing – refused any treatment
7/14 – 5:09 p.m. – Oxford Elementary – gym fire alarm pull station malfunction
7/14 – 5:52 p.m. – 100 U Club Cove – buildings 227 &229 – water flow alarm malfunction
7/14 – 8:58 p.m. – Highway 310 at Harmontown Store area – a one-vehicle wreck with entrapment – FD extricated the patient
