Ole Miss Men’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Slate
The Ole Miss men’s basketball team released the remainder of the non-conference slate for the upcoming season on Tuesday. Along with eight games at The Pavilion, the Rebels play five games away from home before starting SEC action.
Ole Miss opens the 2019-20 season with four straight home games, starting with a matchup against Arkansas State (Nov. 8) the night before an Ole Miss football game. The Rebels welcome Norfolk State to Oxford for a midweek contest (Nov. 12) before hosting the Western Michigan Broncos for another Friday night battle (Nov. 15) ahead of the final home football game of the season, an SEC Saturday showdown with LSU. Last season, the Kermit Davis era began with a 90-64 victory over the Broncos. The homestand concludes with Ole Miss facing Seattle (Nov. 19).
For their first road game of the season, the Rebels make a short trip north to square off against Memphis (Nov. 23). Ole Miss remains away from home during Thanksgiving week, heading to Brooklyn, New York for the NIT Tip-Off. The Rebels join Oklahoma State, Penn State and Syracuse at Barclays Center for games on Nov. 27 and Nov. 29.
Tipping off the month of December, Ole Miss returns home to host Butler (Dec. 3), completing a home-and-home series that began last November. On the first Saturday of the month (Dec. 7), former Ole Miss head coach Rod Barnes returns to Oxford by bringing the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners to town. Ole Miss welcomes Middle Tennessee to The Pavilion (Dec. 14) for a matchup against Davis’ former team.
Four days before Christmas (Dec. 21), Ole Miss treks to Jackson, Mississippi to host Southeastern Louisiana at the Mississippi Coliseum. The Rebels and Lions will square off in the state capital for the second consecutive season. Ole Miss faces Tennessee Tech (Dec. 29) before wrapping up the non-conference slate with a road battle at Wichita State (Jan. 4). The matchup against the Shockers is part of a scheduling alliance with the SEC and The American Conference in which the participating schools will play a home-and-home series, beginning this season. Therefore, the Rebels will host Wichita State during the 2020-21 campaign.
