Small Plane Crashes at Ole Miss Golf Course
A small plane crash is being investigated that occurred at about 3:15 p.m. at the the Ole Miss Golf Course near the Oxford-University Airport.
A witness at the scene told Hottytoddy.com that firefighters were able to remove a female from the plane. She was being airlifted to a Memphis hospital.
Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill confirms Alderman David Littleās daughter 18-year-old Lake Little has died following that plane crash, according to WCBI.com.
The Ole Miss Golf Course announced on Twitter it was closing for the remainder of the day.
According to an online flight checker, the Cessna Skyhawk single-engine plane took off from the Golden Triangle airport in Starkville at 2:03 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at the Oxford-University Airport at 3:11 p.m. It crash landed at the No. 17 hole on the golf course. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
The plane was owned by the USAFX Civil Air Patrol.
