Police Say 11 Vehicle Burglaries Solved with Arrest of Oxford Man
In April, the Oxford Police Department received 11 reports of vehicle burglary around the city.
Through the course of the investigation, Tyler Owens, 18, was determined to be responsible for all 11 burglaries.
An arrest warrant for the vehicle burglaries was issued. Owens was found in Louisville, Kentucky where he was picked up on the warrant by the Kentucky Metro Police Department.
He was transported back to Oxford and to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $50,000 bond by a Justice Court Judge.
Other recent felony arrests made by the OPD include:
- Richard Ward, 36, of Oxford.
On July 21, OPD officers conducted a traffic stop on Ward for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. During the course of a DUI investigation, officers learned Ward has had at least two previous DUI convictions with the last five years. He was charged with DUI-Third, driving the wrong way on a one-way road, open container, driving while license suspended and having no insurance. He was booked into the Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.

On June 14, an officer took a report of embezzlement from a local business. The victim claimed Gardner stole more than $1,000 from the business during the time he was employed there. The manager signed charges against Ward who was arrested June 20. He was booked into the Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
