Ole Miss third baseman Tyler Keenan will be going to TD Armitrade Park in Omaha to represent the Ole Miss Rebels in the College Home Run Derby. The derby, presented by Rocket Mortgage, will air live June 29 on ESPN 2 at 7 p.m.
Keenan will join five other contest in the 10th annual Home Run Derby.
This past season, the sophomore stepped into the box and led the Rebels in home runs with 15 and in RBIs with 66. The Clayton, N.C. native ended with a .506 slugging percentage and a .285 batting average. Keenan was able to find his way aboard consistently with 48 walks and 13 hit-by-pitches.
Keenan is the fourth Rebel to take part in the event, joining Thomas Dillard (2018), Colby Bortles (2016) and Sikes Orvis (2014).
The Rocket Mortgage College Home Run Derby includes three rounds of play: Round 1, featuring all contestants; Round 2, featuring the hitters with the top four scores after Round 1; and Round 3, featuring the top two sluggers after Round 2.
Contestants in each round will have a time period of four minutes to hit as many home runs as they can. Once the timed period concludes, contestants will have one final opportunity to hit a home run with the “Bonus Ball.” If successful, two additional home runs will be added to the contestant’s total score.
The complete list of participants in this year’s derby will be released at a later date.
