The Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officers Association will host its annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Puskus Lake again this year on Saturday morning.

The event is completely free and open to the public. No registration or reservations are required ahead of time.

Kids from ages 1-15 will be allowed to fish in a designated area stocked with fish provided by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. The bait is provided from Skymart in Oxford, so all participating fisherkids will need to bring is a fishing pole and a parent or guardian.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and children can begin fishing at 8 a.m. and go for two hours.

Trophies and prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish in three age groups; however, every child will go home with a prize.

Hotdogs, chips and drinks will be provided during the event by CashSaver and Summitt Food Service.

Lake Puskus is located about 14 miles east of Oxford off Highway 30 and County Road 2089. For directions and information about the lake, visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mississippi/recarea/?recid=28855.
