Rebels Drop First Game to Arkansas 11-2 in Super Regional

The No. 12 national seed Ole Miss Rebels fell to the No.5 national seed Arkansas Razorbacks 11-2 in the first game of the super regionals in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Ole Miss (40-26) jumped out to an early lead after a home run by junior Grae Kessinger in the top of the first.

Arkansas (45-17) quickly answered with four runs in the home half of the inning as eight men came to the plate. The Razorbacks Jack Kenley delivered a three-run home run that gave his team the lead.

The Rebels ace Will Ethridge worked 3.1 innings surrendered eight runs (six earned) on six hits two walks and two strikeouts.

Ole Miss called on the arms of Tyler Myers, Kaleb Hill and Max Cioffi.

The Razorbacks ace Isiah Campbell kept Ole Miss bats at bay as they were only able to string together five hits and garner a free pass. Campbell was electric on the mound as he retired seven batters to strike out on one walk in an 8.1 inning outing. He moved to 12-1 on the season with the victory.

Arkansas slugged a total of three home runs out of the yard against Ole Miss off the bats of Trevor Ezell, Matthew Goodheart and Jack Kenley. Ezell finished the day going 3-for-5 at the plate with two doubles.

In the ninth Thomas Dillard smashed the second Rebel home run of the day.

The Rebels are facing elimination from the NCAA Tournament needing to win the backend of the series. Ole Miss will hand the ball to freshman southpaw Doug Nikhazy versus freshman Connor Noland.

These two teams will return to the diamond tomorrow at 2 p.m. on ESPNU.
