Former Ole Miss baseball pitcher Brett Young premiered his newest music video, “Catch,” Monday morning on CMT.com which features familiar scenes to the Ole Miss community.
Young played baseball for Ole Miss from 1999-2000. While he was a Rebel, Young earned a varsity letter and posted two wins and two saves. He then lettered for one season at Irvine Valley before moving to Fresno. However, his pursuit of becoming a professional baseball player was cut short by an elbow injury while at Fresno in 2003.
In the opening scene, Young is filmed walking into the place where so many memories were made for the pitcher—Oxford University Stadium, aka, Swayze Field.
Young and his crew began filming the music video in March 2019. Many Ole Miss students and community members were able to participate as extras for the video.
The video features two actors portraying Young as a student and athlete at Ole Miss, and it highlights the School of Journalism and New Media, Oxford Burger Company, the J.D., Williams Library and the Grove.
The song “Catch” is off his “Ticket to L.A.” album.
“My wife and I got engaged in Oxford, Mississippi and our families spent Thanksgiving together last year. It’s a special place for us and hopefully will be to our baby girl, too. I’m looking forward to taking her to her first baseball game for sure,” Young said to CMT.
While Young was in town in March 2018, he set up the perfect proposal at the Graduate Hotel on the Oxford Square.
From leading the Rebels on the mound at Swayze to proposing to his fiance on the Oxford Square, Young shares many fond memories in Oxford and on the Ole Miss campus.
“It was definitely bittersweet, but almost felt full circle too. It was pretty special to be back there for a music video, the past meeting the present,” he said to CMT.
Although the video is not on Youtube yet, Young fans can watch his newest music video on CMT.com.
