A Lafayette County woman was killed Friday afternoon after allegedly being shot by a 76-year-old man.
Deputies responded at about 1:22 p.m. to 433 CR 371 near Water Valley for a call in regards to a domestic disturbance and gunshots.
After arriving, investigators discovered a female had been shot. She died at the scene.
Investigators arrested Jimmy Hester who was at the scene without incident and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he will be held pending a first appearance hearing before a Justice Court Judge on Monday.
The name of the victim, nor her relationship to Hester, was released by the sheriff’s department this evening.
This is the second murder in Lafayette County in two weeks. On May 19, Brittany Woods resident Dominique “Lucy” Clayton was shot and killed in her home. Matthew Kinne, a former Oxford police officer was charged with her murder and is being held at Panola County Jail on no bond.
