Due to more damage and necessary repairs needed at the Oxford City Pool, the pool’s opening for this weekend has been delayed for an unknown amount of time, according to the Oxford Park Commission.
OPC community relations director John Davis said crews are “working diligently to make needed repairs and get the city pool open as soon as possible.”
“When we are able to open to the public, we will announce through the media and our social media channels,” Davis said Friday morning.
The pool is more than 40 years old and was built around 1978. For the last several years, the Board of Aldermen has been spending money to put “band-aids” on the pool.
In January, the board approved spending about $15,000 to make some repairs but discussed looking at the possibility of building a new pool, either at the same site or at Stone Park. No decisions have been voted on by the Board, however, in regards to a new pool.
