The Ole Miss women’s golf team is headed to Norman, Oklahoma to begin their NCAA Tournament run. The Rebels will take to the links May 6-8.
Ole Miss earned the No. 9 seed in the Norman Regional hosted by Oklahoma at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
The red and blue team claimed its first SEC Tournament Championship on Sunday as they defeated South Carolina 3-2 in match play.
“I think this puts us on the map a little bit,” said Ole Miss head coach Kory Henkes. “I know we were the underdog coming in all week. We kept telling the girls to grind it out and stay patient, hit fairways and greens and make your pars. I’m so excited and so proud of this group. This is unbelievable.”
This is the second time in as many years for the Rebels to appear in the tournament and just the 11th overall.
Joining Ole Miss in Oklahoma will include conference foes Florida, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M. Texas and Wake Forest make up the top two seeds in the regional.
The top six teams and top three individuals who prevail at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club will make it to the NCAA Championship at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, May 17-22.
