Oxford Crime & Emergency Calls from April 19-21, 2019

The following reports were made April 19-21, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 68 tickets, investigated 27 wrecks and the following reports:
4 911 hang-ups
21 alarms
6 animal complaints
8 careless driving complaints
2 civil matters
1 cyberstalking
11 disturbing the peace complaints
7 domestic disturbances
2 harassing phone calls
1 identity theft
5 improper parking complaints
4 larcenies
3 malicious mischief complaints
2 motorist assists
6 other agency assists
1 recovered property
16 suspicious activities
6 suspicious people
1 suspicious vehicle
1 trespassing
1 utility call
5 vehicle search
8 welfare check

Officers made the following arrests:
1 DUI
1 DUI and one headlight
1 DUI and no headlight
1 DUI, no headlight and running a stop sign
1 DUI and no driver’s license
1 DUI, no insurance and expired tag
1 DUI-second and careless driving
1 expired tag and driving while license suspended
1 fake ID
1 malicious mischief
1 open container and running a red light
1 possession of drug paraphernalia
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule 4 drug, tint violation and K-9 search
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and one headlight
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with intent
4 public drunks
2 public drunks and fake ID
1 shoplifting
1 speeding and no driver’s license
1 warrant

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated eight wrecks and the following reports:
8 accidents
4 agency assists
1 alarm
7 animal complaints
28 auto burglaries
2 residential burglaries (CR 540, Hwy 334)
10 disturbances
5 follow-ups
4 harassment
3 information
1 juvenile complaint
1 noise complaint
3 road obstruction
1 scam
8 service calls
1 suspicious activity
2 suspicious persons
4 suspicious vehicles
1 traffic complaint
5 transports
1 trespassing
10 welfare concerns
13 papers served

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 domestic violence with simple assault
1 driving with a suspended license and no insurance
2 for commercial burglary
1 possession of drug paraphernalia

University Police Department investigated two wrecks, made one arrest for public drunk, resisting arrest and possession of a fake ID and investigated the following reports:
1 suspicious vehicle
1 careless driving

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
4/17 – 2:36 p.m. – Oxford Elementary – call canceled
4/17 – 2:57 p.m. – 611 Commerce Parkway – vaping activated a smoke detector
4/17 – 11:17 p.m. – Oxford Elementary – gym fire alarm system malfunctioning
4/18 – 8:21 a.m. – Tri Delta House – call canceled
4/18 – 11:56 a.m. – 1111 West Jackson Ave. – call canceled
4/18 – 1:36 p.m. – El Agave – call canceled
4/18 – 7:42 p.m. – 2000 Lexington Pointe Office – smoke detector malfunction
4/19 – 8:32 a.m. – 2590 Harris Drive – call canceled
4/19 – 11:34 a.m. – Tri Delta House – workers activated a smoke detector in the study room
4/19 – 11:41 – a.m. 1900 University Ave area – wreck with injuries
4/20 – 10:38 a.m. – 2201 University Ave area – wreck with injuries
4/20 – 11:36 a.m. – Delores Drive – van on fire – fully involved upon arrival – FD extinguished the fire
4/20 – 12:22 p.m. – 138 Courthouse Square – medical call for possible stroke – monitored patient until EMS arrived
4/20 – 4:44 p.m. – Hwy 6 West – wreck with entrapment call – everyone was out before rescue arrived
4/20 – 6:03 p.m. – 23 Effie Circle – smoke from neighbor’s grill was coming in his window – grill was far enough away from the building
4/20 – 11:28 p.m. – Caller was on Beanland Drive – heavy smoke in the area – found unauthorized burning of wood pallets at 1621 Pierce Ave. Extended – FD extinguished the fire
4/21 – 7:25 a.m. – 312 Ridgewood Manor – cooking activated a smoke detector
4/21 – 4:14 p.m. – Gertrude Ford – wreck with injuries – provided first aid and stood by for EMS
4/21 – 5:05 p.m. – 632 Park Drive – smell of something burning – turned heater on and dust burning off
4/22 – 1:18 a.m. – Crosby Hall – medical call
4/22 – 1:55 a.m. – 222 James Circle – possible stroke – monitored until EMS arrived
