It’s no secret that the fan base in Oxford is among the best in the SEC. Bim Bam Burgers & Wings, located at 2204 Jackson Ave W., is adopting the sports culture by transforming into a sports-themed restaurant during the fall of 2019.
To create a family-friendly environment for the Oxford community, owner Erica Barragan said she is hoping to begin renovations in August, just in time for Rebel fans to enjoy a meal while watching Ole Miss football.
Bim Bam Burgers & Wings, better known to locals as Bim Bam, is a quick service restaurant centered around Ole Miss spirit. The local burger joint gets its name from the classic Hotty Toddy chant and the restaurant features Ole Miss memorabilia, pictures and autographs from players and coaches. Red and blue fills every inch of the walls, ensuring Rebel pride.
“Sports really brings the Oxford community together,” Barragan said.
She said she envisions Bim Bam as a sports-themed restaurant and wants to add TVs—that will display a variety of sports—throughout the restaurant. She also hopes to obtain a liquor license, she said.
Since Barragan has taken over ownership, she has added a chalkboard wall for children to entertain themselves while in the restaurant and has added new menu items, including specialty burgers, sandwiches, chicken and waffles, BBQ nachos, lunch special plates and more.
“We have some of the best Mississippi raised catfish and amazing specialty sandwiches,” she said.
Barragan wants Bim Bam to be a place where families and friends sit down and enjoy a meal, not grab-n-go style.
“Bim Bam is the closest to a home cooked meal when you are out and about. We cook everything fresh on the grill and nothing is frozen. We take pride in our quality of food,” she said.
Andria Hudson, the shift leader at Bim Bam, said the customer’s experience is always the first priority.
Hudson said that the employee family dynamic makes them unique because they all lean on each other to create a positive work environment.
“At Bim Bam we’re all like family,” she said. “We can all go to each other for anything. My coworkers and I are brothers and sisters and Erica is the mom. I think since we have a strong family-like bond it resonates with our customers and enhances their experience.”
