Flash Flood Warning for Lafayette, Yalobusha County

Lafayette and Yalobusha County are both currently under a flash flood warning through this evening, according to the National Weather Service’s Memphis branch.
The NWS has noted there will be a possibility of more than 2 inches of rain across the watch area.
Street flooding will be a hazard for motorists. Low-lying and poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well as small streams, according to the NWS.
There is also a possibility for large hail and tornadoes in the area.
The Water Valley School District announced early dismissal for noon and Coffeeville School District will dismiss at 2 p.m.
Lafayette Schools will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. due to the weather.
Oxford School District released a statement at 12:30 this afternoon saying the district will observe regular hours for the remainder of the day and afterschool programs will continue as scheduled.
