Tips from the public helped the Oxford Police Department apprehend a man Saturday for breaking into the G&M Pharmacy Friday night.

According to the Oxford Police Department, at 10:18 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the pharmacy, located on South Lamar Boulevard for a burglary alarm activation. Officers discovered the power had been cut to the building and the glass front door was shattered.

An initial investigation revealed that an unknown male was seen on security cameras entering the business using a tool to break the glass door. Once inside the male stole a controlled substance and fled prior to officers arriving on the scene.

Jeremy Weathersbee

OPD released photos of the man the next morning to the public on its social media sites which lead to the identification of the burglar as Jeremy Weathersbee, 42 of Oxford. A warrant for his arrest was issued and he was later arrested later Saturday morning and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

OPD had an open vehicle burglary from February 2019 where a then unknown male entered a vehicle and stole property. Investigators were able to link this burglary back to Weathersbee.

Weathersbee was booked for two counts of commercial burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools. His bond was set at $25,000 by a Justice Court judge.
