The Ole Miss Rebels softball team evened the series with South Carolina with a 2-0 victory on Sunday night.

Ole Miss’ starter Molly Jacobsen was masterful in the circle against the Gamecocks by only allowing three hits and three walks in eight complete innings of work for her fourth complete game shutout of the season.

Coach Mike Smith’s club left runners stranded on base through all seven of regulation. A total of eight Rebels were left on the pond.

Jacobsen found herself in a jam in the third frame after South Carolina got back-to-back singles then she was able to retire the next batter on a 3-2 count to strike them out.

In the eighth inning, Jessica Put broke up the scoreless game with a solo home run to give the Rebels a 1-0 advantage. Autumn Gillespie then laced a ball down the right-field line for a triple and was pinched ran for by Kelsha Loftin and was brought in to score off the bat off Brittany Finney.

The deciding game three between Ole Miss and South Carolina is tonight at 6 p.m. on SEC Network.
