OPD Investigating Fraudulent Facebook Account
OPD is investigating a fake Facebook account made to imitate a captain with the police department.

The Oxford Police Department was recently made aware of a fraudulent Facebook account claiming to be associated with OPD that was citing negative and racist content.
Authorities were alerted that a fraudulent account OPD’s Capt. Hildon Sessums was publishing offensive material.
Upon initial investigation, it was determined that the account was created by a third party who was not associated in any way with Sessums, the Oxford Police Department or the city of Oxford.
According to a statement released this morning, OPD is working with Facebook to identify and locate the owner of the false account.
This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
