Obituary: In Loving Memory of Joe Karl Larson

Joe Karl Larson, 77, died Saturday, March 9 at The Blake in Oxford. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Rester officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, Mississippi. The visitation will be held in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home on Monday, March 11 from 4-7 p.m.

Born in Water Valley, Mississippi to the late James Arden and Janie Hunt Larson, Larson graduated from Ole Miss with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He was a member of Oxford University-United Methodist Church in Oxford. Larson formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Mechanics Bank and was a former Auditor for the State of Mississippi.

In March of 1969, he joined his brothers in the grocery business. He was an avid Ole Miss fan and loved spending time at the beach playing golf with his brothers. Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, James Larson.

He is survived by a daughter, Kim Upton of Oxford; son, Brent Larson and his wife, Christy, of Oxford; former wife, Joan Kay Larson of Oxford; sister, Jane Ricketts of Memphis, TN; brother, Bill Larson of Oxford; four grandchildren, Hayley Smith and her husband, Nathan, Morgan Upton, Will Larson, and Sam Larson all of Oxford.
