The Ole Miss Rebels dropped a hard-fought game to the No. 6 Kentucky 80-76 on Tuesday.
Ole Miss’ (19-11, 9-9) senior Terence Davis shined in his final regular season home game of his career with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
“It was great to see how TD (Terence Davis) played on his senior night,” Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis said.
The highest scoring duo in the SEC—Davis and Breein Tyree—scored 46 of 76 points in the game.
A total of four players reached double figures. Bruce Stevens tallied 11 points and Devontae Shuler added 10 points.
“(Stevens) had seven rebounds, and he only shot one bad three in the first half,” Davis said. “His energy level is so much better and it’s helping us. We just have to keep him going in that direction.”
Coach Davis’s squad took a 39-38 advantage going into the locker room at the half.
Kentucky was led by Keldon Johnson with 22 points while teammate Tyler Hero was right on his heels at 20 points.
The Wildcats built their largest lead (8 points) at the 6:05 mark of the first half, and the Rebels’ largest lead was 6 points at the 14:28 point of the first half.
Kentucky outscored Ole Miss 34-24 with points in the paint. The Rebels were able to close the gap at the free-throw line going 20-22.
Ole Miss returns to the court Saturday as they travel to Missouri to tangle with the Tigers. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
