The cold air at Swayze Field did not slow down the offensive firepower in No. 13 Ole Miss’ 11-8 victory over the Little Rock Trojans on Tuesday.
Ole Miss (9-2) got the bats going early by scoring a quick seven runs in the first four innings. The Rebels scored one in the first as Grae Kessinger opened the game with a single and came home two batters later on an RBI ground out off the bat of Tyler Keenan.
Head Coach Mike Bianco’s club put up five runs in the second frame.
Rebels starter Jordan Fowler rolled through the first four innings unblemished against the Trojans. The Trojans scored four runs on two hit-by-pitches and four base knocks. Fowler’s night came to a close in that frame after he gave up four runs on two hits, one walk, struck out three batters and hit three.
Bianco went to the bullpen and called on the arm of right-hander Max Cioffi who did not allow a run in 3.2 innings of work. He gave up five hits, allowed two walks and struck out seven. He picked up the win.
The Rebels scored its final four runs in the bottom of the seventh on three hits and two walks. The hits came from a base knock by Jacob Adams with doubles from Kessinger and Keenan.
Keenan finished the day going 3-for-5 with no runs scored and 4 RBIs. His teammate Kessinger and Anthony Servideo each went 2-for-4 on the day. Ole Miss scored all 11 runs on 13 hits.
