The Ole Miss women’s basketball team dropped its final home game of the 2018-19 season to the Tennessee Lady Vols 81-56 on Senior Day.
Ole Miss (9-21, 3-13) concluded the regular season honoring four seniors Crystal Allen, Shandricka Sessoms, Cecilia Muhate and La’Karis Salter prior to the game.
“The reason why I stand up and coach whether we’re down 30 or up three is because of my loyalty to them,” McPhee-McCuin said. “It’s the only way I can show gratitude and appreciation to them for giving me a chance.”
When McPhee-McCuin began this year’s season she only had three players to start with; however, she, along with the other coaching staff, was able to form a team, she said.
“That’s why I give them everything that I have so that they could have a good experience,” McPhee-McCuin said. “I know we didn’t win a lot of games, but I’m confident that they feel like they had a positive experience here for this short time.”
Allen led the way for the Rebels in scoring with 30 points.
The Rebels had their largest lead of five points at the 8-minute mark of the first quarter. The Lady Vols pushed its led out to 35 points in the third quarter.
Tennessee held Ole Miss to shoot 36.8 percent in the contest and 3-for-11 from beyond the arc.
